About the Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer Chair on Human Rights

Established in memory of the Late Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer, former judge of the Supreme Court of India and a prominent human rights advocate, the Chair is committed to advancing human rights-focused legal principles. The Chair’s mission is to raise awareness of human rights, particularly among students and educators, and instil compassion across all walks of life. The Chair organizes workshops, seminars, and educational sessions on critical human rights topics, including healthcare, privacy, socio-economic rights, and more.

Under the leadership of Justice K. M. Joseph, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, who assumed the role of Chair Professor in March 2024, the Chair continues its mission to promote human rights-centered legal principles, conduct outreach initiatives, and implement preventive measures to protect and advance human rights.

About the Conference

The Convergence of AI and Human Rights explores complex ethical, legal, and social considerations that emerge from the growing role of AI in decision-making and human rights protection. As AI technologies become more advanced and autonomous, it is essential to examine their implications on human dignity, accountability, and legal frameworks. This conference will serve as a forum to address these critical issues and propose solutions for ensuring that AI aligns with human rights principles and values.

Themes

The conference welcomes research papers that address the following themes and topics related to the convergence of AI and Human Rights:

  • Protection of fundamental human rights in the age of AI
  • Implications of AI advancements on human dignity and autonomy
  • Ethical and legal challenges posed by the use of AI in various fields
  • Responsibilities and accountability for human rights violations by AI actions
  • Governance and regulation of AI technologies to safeguard human rights
  • Call for Papers
    Submissions are invited from academicians, researchers, practitioners, social workers, and students on the themes mentioned above.

Important Dates:

Submission Deadline for Full Paper: 16th October 2024

Guidelines for Submission:

There is no abstract submission. Registration is to be made along with the full paper submission.
The full paper must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
Word Limit: 3500-4500 words (excluding footnotes)
Font and Size: Times New Roman, size 12 (for main text); size 10 (for footnotes)
Alignment: Justified text with 2.54 cm margins on A4 size paper.
Footnoting Style: OSCOLA 4th Edition

Co-authorship: Allowed up to two authors.
All submissions must be original, unpublished work and must adhere to the plagiarism policy (15% similarity allowed with 5% AI-generated content).
Papers must include a cover page with details such as the Title, Theme, Author’s Name, Affiliation, Email, and Contact Number.

Publication:

Selected best papers will be published as an edited book with an ISBN number.
