OVERVIEW

In this topic, we are going to see some legal terms within foreign, Hindi, and Urdu words, or meanings. All the terms which we will use are not limited here but some of them are given for your reference. So let us start with foreign legal terms with their meanings.

FOREIGN WORDS

  1. Doli incapax – Incapable of crime
  1. Detinue – Tort of wrongfully holding goods which belong to someone else.
  1. Denatio mortis causa – Gift because of death.
  1. Estoppel – Prevented from denying.
  1. Ex parte – Proceedings in the absence of the other party.
  1. Ex gratia – As a favour.
  1. Ex officio – Because of an office held.
  1. Fatum – Beyond human foresight.
  1. Factum probans – Relevant fact.
  1. Fraus est celare fraudem – It is a fraud to conceal a fraud
  1. Functus officio – No longer having power or jurisdiction.
  1. Habeas corpus – A writ to have the body of a person to be brought in before the judge.
  1. Injuria sine damno – Injury without damage.
  1. Ipso facto – By the mere fact.
  1. Impromptu – In readiness.
  1. In lieu of – Instead of.
  1. In personam – A proceeding in which relief I sought against a specific person.
  1. Innuendo – Spoken words which are defamatory because they have a double meaning.
  1. In status quo – In the present state.
  1. Jus in personam – Right against a specific person.
  1. Jus in rem – Right against the world at large.
  1. Jus non scriptum – Customary law.
  1. Jus scriptum – Written law.
  1. Jus – Law or right.
  1. Justitia nemini neganda est – Justice is to be denied to nobody

HINDI LEGAL TERMS

  1. Suspect: संदिग्ध
  1. Testify: साक्ष्य देना
  1. Trial: परीक्षण
  1. Verdict: निर्णय
  1. Victim: शिकार
  1. Witness: साक्षी
  1. Accuse: दोषारोपण करना
  1. Arrest: पकड़ना
  1. Charge: प्रभार
  1. Convict: सिद्धदोष
  1. Arrest : पकड़ना

  1. Guilt: अपराध
  1. Innocent: निर्दोष
  1. Judge: न्यायाधीश
  1. Prosecute: अभियोग चलाना

  1. Trial:परीक्षण
  1. Verdict :निर्णय
  1. Victim:शिकार
  1. Witness:साक्षी
  1. Accuse: दोषारोपण करना

  1. Cancellation: mansookhi
  1. Revocation of power of attorney: Abtaal namaa
  1. Case diaries: Zimni 
  1. Cause of action: Binaey dawaa/ Binaey naalish
  1. Cause list: Fahrist pehshi
  1. Certified copy: Mussadaqa naqal
  1. Charge(criminal law): fard jurm
  1. Circumstantial evidence: quriani shahadat
  1. Civil: Deewaani
  1. Civil miscellaneous: Deewaani muttafarriq
  1. Code of civil procedure: Majmoae zabta deewaani
  1. Cognizable Offence: qabil-e-dast andaazi
  1. Competition Law: masabaqti qanoon
  1. Complaint: istighasa
  1. Complainant: mustaghees
  1. Compromise deed: razinama
  1. Compensation for hurt: arsh
  1. Confession: iqbal-e-jurm
  1. Conflict of Interest: mufaadati tassadum
  1. Consolidation: ishtimaal
  1. Contract: moahida
  1. Correspondence: mirasala
  1. Criminal Breach of Trust: khayant mujraman

CONCLUSION

So, we have learnt different meanings of one word via different languages. It has not ended but still, there are so many words in different languages which we study during our law graduation. These words are just for your reference, it does not end here. There are so many words in different languages with the same meaning.
