OVERVIEW
In this topic, we are going to discuss the Islamic concept of state. The Islamic concept of state mainly focuses on the governance as per the Islamic law. As per this concept, there must be a leader also known as a Caliph. The Caliph is responsible for maintaining equality and prosperity in the society. We will discuss some of the key points of the Islamic concept as there are several explanations of Islamic principles.
ISLAMIC CONCEPT OF STATE
The Islamic concept of state is an extensive topic with various explanations.
Some of the key points are given:
- Sovereignty – in Islam, sovereignty belongs to god. In this, the king rules with the responsibility for do welfare of the people and upholds divine law.
- Sharia (Islamic law) – Sharia is a guide for people and society. It tells Muslim people the aspects of their everyday life and their rituals. A Muslim state will include the Sharia principles in their laws.
- Community (ummah)– ummah, the global community ummah is very significant. Islamic State represents the interest of its ummah.
If we talk about historical examples there are many examples of historical Islamic states which have different forms of government. Some talk about religious scholars on religious scholars while others talk about sultans and caliphs.
MODERN CONSIDERATIONS
Till now Islamic states don’t have a single definition and scholars and thinkers are discussing how the Islamic principles can be applied to modern governance.
CONCLUSION
So, we have learned that there is no single explanation or definition of Islamic principles. They tell people how to deal with the day-to-day aspects of life and tell about Muslim rituals. It doesn’t have any modern considerations as nobody knows how to apply Muslim principles to modern governance. As per this conceot it is mandate to have a leader above the people for maintaining the society with equality and prosperity.
