OVERVIEW

Here in this topic, we will learn about some of the elements of political science which will help us to understand their meanings and how they help us to understand political science. This understanding will also help in providing insights into how these elements play an important role in the smooth functioning of the political systems. Let us start with these elements that are State, government, and law. Let’s begin!

STATE

A political institution that governs a specific territory and its population is called a state. It has the power to make and implement laws and maintain orders within the territory. It can take various forms such as monarchy (single ruler government), democracy (governed by the people of the country), and republic (head of the state is elected instaed of inheriting the position).

GOVERNMENT

The institution that runs a state is the government. There are different branches of government such as the legislative (which makes law), executive (which implements them), and judiciary (which interprets them).

A government is composed of people who make the laws, implement them, and give public services to the people of the country.

LAW

The rules that are made by the state to govern its people are called laws. It helps in protecting people’s rights, maintaining order, and verifying equal treatment for everybody. There are various types of laws such as criminal law( it deals with crimes and punishments), and civil law ( it deals with conflicts between the public).

CONCLUSION

So we have learned that the state makes the structure of the society. The government places that structure into function by making and implementing laws. The laws help the state to function quietly without any obstacle and everyone surely accepts the rule of living together. All these elements together form the basis of the political world and the society.
