Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a state-run autonomous university located in Kochi, Kerala, India. Established in 1971, the university operates across three campuses: two in Kochi (Kalamassery and Ernakulam) and one in Kuttanad, Alappuzha, about 66 km (41 miles) inland. Originally named the University of Cochin, it was created in 1971 through an act of the Kerala Legislature, following efforts to enhance postgraduate education in the state. In February 1986, it was renamed Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). The university aims to promote undergraduate and postgraduate education and foster advanced research in areas such as applied science, technology, industry, commerce, management, and social sciences.
